Dr. Joe Howell is a renowned leader in the practice and management of veterinary medicine. Currently serving as the Examiner for Clinical Proficiency for the American Veterinary Medical Association, an Executive Board Member of the Western Veterinary Conference, and as an owner of several world-class animal care hospitals, Dr. Howell has previously served as President and Chairman of the Board of the AVMA, Director of the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Foundation, and President of the Oklahoma State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and Licensure. Most-recently he served as the Interim Director of Continuing Education at Oklahoma State University School of Veterinary Medicine. Joe has served for decades on the Board of Trustees of the Oklahoma City Museum of Art in various capacities including President, Director and Chairman of the Board. He has served for nearly twenty years on the Board of Trustees of the Kirkpatrick Foundation, the largest philanthropic foundation in Oklahoma history.
In addition to animal care facilities, Dr. Howell’s successful business ventures include consulting for Hill’s Pet Nutrition, a division of Colgate-Palmolive, owning several MotoPhoto photography franchises, owning a Minolta Business Equipment service provider, and various other investments. Dr. Howell holds his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma. He is originally from Waynoka, Oklahoma.
Sumrall Howell most recently served as Manager of Education Programs and Humane Education at Helen Woodward Animal Center; San Diego’s premier no-kill, non-profit animal center. Ms. Howell led a team of ten instructors to develop curriculum and annually deliver educational programs to over fifteen thousand children in San Diego County. Sumrall is a former English teacher at San Diego High School and former tutor and manager at Kaplan Learning Institute. Additionally, she performs as a principal with San Diego Dinner Detectives and The Hinges comedy improve troupe. She has previously worked for the U.S. Department of State in Washington, DC and for the American Veterinary Medical Association. She holds a M.A. in English from University of Central Oklahoma and a dual B.A. in English and Psychology from the University of Oklahoma. Additionally, she was an honors Oxford University Scholar.
Christopher Morgan is a software and business process consultant. He has worked for a number of high technology and software companies. Independently, he has assisted multiple organizations in various technology areas. He has developed several mobile applications and founded Ala Wai Apps, a mobile app development project. Christopher is a former United States Army Captain and served with the 25th Infantry Division and United States Army, Pacific Headquarters. He holds a B.S. in Information Systems from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He is originally from Hazleton, Pennsylvania and resides in San Diego, California.
